A little history...
The history of American gold coins dates back to the colonization of America by Europeans. The first American gold coins were minted from New World gold. These coins were highly prized by settlers and new immigrants.
American gold coins have been minted at various times in American history. They were used to pay for taxes, purchases and services. U.S. gold coins were withdrawn from circulation in 1933. Since then, they have not been issued by the United States. American gold coins are graded according to their gold purity.

Some of the most popular gold coins on the market.
The Saint-Gaudens double eagle.
The Saint-Gaudens double eagle is an American 20-dollar gold coin minted from 1907 to 1933. It was the last American coin to be minted by hand, and is one of the most famous and highly prized coins. The coin was named in honor of its designer, Augustus Saint-Gaudens.
The coin was so beautiful that some even suggested it should not be used as currency, but rather preserved as a work of art. The coin's beauty is largely due to its elaborate design and intricate details. The reverse of the coin features an image of a flying eagle, while the front presents an image of Liberty marching into the future.
Unfortunately, the beauty of the piece was its undoing. Due to its complex design, the coin was extremely difficult to manufacture, and production costs quickly escalated. What's more, the coin was so beautiful that people tended to keep it as a collector's item rather than use it as everyday currency. Because of these factors, production of the coin was halted in 1933 and it was never minted again.

The 20 Dollar Liberty
The 20 Dollar Liberty is an American gold coin minted from 1849 to 1907. The coin was made of solid gold and weighed 33.436 grams. The first coins were struck with a portrait of Liberty seated on a rocking chair, the last with a portrait of Liberty standing.
Over its long history, the 20 Dollar Liberty has been minted several times. The last series of coins was minted in 1907 and not put into circulation until 1908. The coin was then withdrawn from US Mint production.
Today, the 20 Dollar Liberty is a highly sought-after collector's item. The most sought-after coins are those from the first series, minted from 1849 to 1866. These coins are extremely rare and can be very expensive.

In the 1800s, the United States began minting $10 silver coins with an Indian head on the obverse. These coins were known as "Indian head gold coins". The coins were minted until 1933, when gold coin production was halted by the Precious Metals Act. The $10 Indian head coin was the last gold coin minted by the United States.
Today, 10-dollar Indian head coins are highly sought-after by collectors and investors. The most sought-after coins are those minted before 1920, as they have greater numismatic value. 10-dollar Indian head coins also have intrinsic value, as they are made of pure gold.
